I really am trying to get better at updating this blog. I do have good intentions......really I do........Anyway........this is what we have been up to!
Vanessa: My new job is still keeping me busy. I do like it and the people I work with. I went to the TEPSA/TASSP conference in Austin earlier this month for 3 days. I have just returned (last night) from a 4 day trip to Grapevine where I took a class about selling securities and being certified through the NASD. OH MY! It was like reliving economics at ACU all over again---now that I am far removed from it..I can tell you that Dr. Jackson's economics is the only class I failed while there. I was pledging Ko Jo Kai that semester, too, but I think that was only an excuse. The information was just too much! In a way, it still is..........the instructor in Grapevine was good. I filled all but 4 pages of a legal pad with notes. I hope to take the tests in 2 weeks.
I also turned 34 this week. Thank you to those of you who called and sent sweet notes. : ) I spent my actual bday (6/27) in a hotel in Grapevine that had no electricity for 4 hours that night due to crazy weather.
Jonathan: has been at the fireworks stand in Sweetwater since last Saturday 6/23. He is doing well there.........which is good........we are hoping to use the firework money to pay off my Suburban. (Then we can build a house on the land we bought!!) He has also been coaching/sponsoring a Tball team this season. I think baseball began here in April........we are still playing and practicing. More on that below.
Jill: Her softball team is undefeated for the season! She will proudly tell anyone who will listen. They have worked hard all season and have practiced a lot! She had practice all week (thanks to Charlene and Dad for getting my children where they were supposed to be all week : )) and they go to the playoffs in Teague this coming week. She even has practice tomorrow........a SUNDAY! With Jonathan still gone.........it should all be very interesting. And did I mention that our wonderful babysitter, Cooky, started her 2 week vacation yesterday?
Thomas: His tball team got second in his league. There was a 3 way tie for second, so his team had to play last night (they won) and this morning and they won again! So............that means more practice this week for his team and they will go to the playoffs the second week in July. At least Jonathan will be home by then.
Grant: He is the #1 cheerleader for both teams. He can play tball next year and cannot wait! I do think his favorite part of the games is being able to have some Sour Patch Straws and a Dr. Pepper, but he cheers them all on. This morning, one of the players on Thomas's team got hurt and was sitting in the dugout recovering and Grant said, "Mom...I have to go check on BJ. I'll be back." He is so sweet!!
We are all enjoying swimming in the back yard when we can. Jonathan and the kids ride their bikes some......did I mention that Jonathan got bit by a dog last week while riding his bike? He is OK now, but did have to get some stitches......
The kids and I are hoping to be able to go to the fireworks stand sometime before it closes on July 4th......it all depends on practice and games. I will try to post results and maybe even some pics! ha....
SHELLEY: I hope your kids are better.........I am so glad that you did not get sick from all of that..........love ya, Vanessa
