Jonathan found Cocoa this afternoon. : )
His fur was stuck in the barbed wire fence that is in the pasture beside our house. He has a little cut, but, other than that...........seems to be fine! He was thirsty and hungry (and very muddy), but will be OK!! It's hard to be a prissy dog and live in the country!
**I am also OK after the root canal. The left side of my face is swollen and numb. Jonathan was totally laughing at me-------really at me----not with me-------because I WAS NOT LAUGHING! However, for my pain, I received a tshirt, chapstick, a pen, and a magnet....all courtesy of Central Texas Endodontics! LOL

LOST DOG, ROOT CANAL, and SHUT THE BLINDS!
Cocoa is lost. If you will remember, Cocoa is our (my) Shih Tzu that we got in November. Yesterday after we got home from church, we let Cocoa and Love (the other Shih Tzu) out of their play yard to go potty. They always do their business together.....they are always together!
Love came back........Cocoa did not. Yesterday was filled with all of us calling him and looking around the house, the field, the side of the road, the road........expecting to find the worst. (Yes, this is the same dog that, last month, spent a night in doggie ICU and then a week in quarantine at the vet because he got PARVO, even with the vaccine!) Today, Cocoa is still missing and we are all sad. Jonathan is not sad-------his favorite dog is Love. I am putting out posters in all the mailboxes on our road today. Hopefully we will get a call..........a good call.
The other yucky thing is that I have to get a root canal today at 12:15. I had one last summer on the day of Jill's state tournament game. The dentist said then that I would probably need another one on the tooth behind the one he did--------he was SO right. It has hurt on and off for a while. Today my cheek is swollen........time to take care of it! I dread the dentist. My childhood dentist's name was Danny Fletcher. He made me scared to death of going to the dentist. One time when I was in middle school, he had a bright idea to pull FOUR of my teeth in one day---2 on top, 2 on bottom, opposite sides of my mouth. Ever since that day..........I'd rather not go. But I cannot go around looking like I do today, so I guess I will take care of it.
OUCH.
In other happenings...........We had a pretty normal weekend. Jonathan took us to breakfast at Panera on Saturday......I love that place. He went on to yoga while the kids and I went to Wal Mart to get groceries. I took a nap (I LOVE NAPS) and J and I even had a date that night!
We ate at La Fiesta and went to see "21". My oldest sister could so be a card counter! I texted her during the movie and told her I had a new job lined up for her! Then we met my BFF, whom I will call the Taos Lurker (haha), and her husband at Starbucks afterwards. They had attended
a fundraiser for their son's school and were done a little before we were, so........since we both had babysitters.......might as well visit over a peppermint mocha! It was cold inside and cold outside, so we sat in their car. The Starbucks we went to is right beside a Hampton Inn......we are sitting in their car facing the windows of the hotel. On one of the second floor windows, we saw a girl in a wedding dress, looking at herself in the mirror, twirling her long veil train, and talking on her cell phone! It was probably 10 pm!!!! HELLO???????? We watched her for a while....no sign of a groom........then she was looking out the window while talking on the phone and (of course) Jonathan waves at her!!! Later, we saw a groom. He drew the curtains. Smart guy.
On the fourth floor, there was talk of a naked woman in the window. I did not see that one!!
Yesterday was pretty normal.....church, lunch, nap for me, church........Hope you all had a great weekend! Today would have been my Nanny's birthday----------Happy Bday Nanny!

Thermometers and Muffins
Baseball season is here again! The kids practice on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Needless to say.....they are TIRED! Yesterday, Thomas was trying to convince me he was sick. His stomach hurt, his arm hurt, his head hurt........so I got out the thermometer. It said 97. I took it twice......still 97. I gave him some breakfast and told him to get after it----to try to go to school and if he still felt bad that the nurse would call me later. We decided to take his temperature one last time.......I put it under his tongue and went to fix Jill's hair. I went back to the kitchen only to find him putting the thermometer in his muffin!! The temp was then 106! I smiled and very sweetly explained to him that if his temp was that high, that we would be on our way to the hospital! He went to school.......I did not get a call from the nurse. By the afternoon, I think he had forgotten about the whole thing!
DAVIS GIRLS HUNTING TRIP!
All of us at a Coffee Haus in Gruene.
Every Spring Break (for the past 5-6 years or so) the Davis Girls take a "Hunting Trip". We hunt for treasures, bargains, cute stuff, and just hang out together. This year we went to Gruene.
Those in attendance were: Lady, Carra, Jenny, Addie, Fern, Gisela, Gisela's friend Christy, Micah, Hannah, Me, and Jennifer! (My BFF, Lorie, who attended last year could not go this year because she had been to Taos the week before.......I know.........poor BFF...stranded in Taos!!)
We stayed in New Braunfels, which is about 3 miles from Gruene, and way cheaper that staying in Gruene itself! The first night we shopped a little and then went to the Gristmill to eat. It was good, of course, and we were very full when we left. The onion rings there are awesome.
After eating, we went back to the hotel and stayed up too late visiting in our pjs.
Tuesday morning most of us got up and ate breakfast at IHOP, had a devo back at the hotel provided by Jenny, then off to Gruene again. All I really bought was food items! Is that terrible!? It rained most of the day, but we survived! There was a really neat store there called "Stepping Stones" where I bought a book called "10 Minute Time Outs for You and Your Kids".
It has little stories with Bible verses-----the kids and I are reading them every night. The boys complain.......but they have to listen anyway!! ha! Lady was feeling sick after lunch, so she and Carra went back to the hotel to rest. She recovered thank goodness!
Tuesday night we went to see "The Bank Job" at the movies. We thought it was the movie with Queen Latifah, Katie Holmes, and Diane Keaton. WRONG! It was about a bank robbery!! People were shot........killed.......definitely not the movie we thought it was going to be. Take your husbands to see it.........its a boy show. After the movie, we ate at Applebees because it was close to the hotel and we were tired! We visited some more there and again at the hotel in our pjs.
Wednesday morning we had to get up and outta there. One group was driving to Abilene---another was going back to Lubbock. Jennifer and I just had to head down I-35 home.
It was fun.........I love all of those girls! Micah will graduate this year! I can't believe it.
At our reception she and Hannah (5 and 6 yrs old then) tried to convince me to throw the bouquet to them because "no one ever throws it to us. Its not fair!" they said. I think Farrah actually caught it----------sorry all of that was kind of random. We had a great time!
At Adobe Verde..............so delicious!
This is a kitten that looked as if it was in jail! Just under a building in the town. It did not want anything to do with us!
We had so much stuff that Micah and Hannah had to sit in the back-back of Gisela's car!! Just Visiting!

Easter 2008
The Easter Bunny left treats!!!
Just some pics of all of us. The kids picked out their own clothes this year. I wanted them to be all matchy-matchy.........but they had other ideas! They are growing up!
**My BFF, Lorie, and I were talking about blogging today and how it is really like an online scrapbook. This came up as we had just visited a scrapbook store in Waco with really cute stuff.................but who has time to cut all of that out and glue it and write cute stuff under it, much less find cute stickers to match???!!! And did I leave out the word 'expensive'? wow!
WAY Behind!!!!
OK.......In an attempt to catch up.........here is what has been going on!!
Easter Parties!!!
I was able to attend both Jill and Thomas's Easter Parties this year. : )
They still even call them "Easter Parties" and not Spring Fling or something else that could be deemed politically correct. The joys of small town living.
Jill had fun with all of her friends and it was a beautiful day! Thomas also seemed to have a good time. He and Will were deciding which eggs to trade. Thomas also informed me that he is too old to be taking pics with his mother at school.......thus the look on his face. I told him that I needed a pic for my blog.......he still was not too interested. What happened to my Sweet Babboo?
The other pic is of Jonathan and his workout/yoga buddy, Brian. They really wanted to swing!!! I just thought that pic was funny.

Old Foes are Now Best Friends.......J's Mom's latest article
Are you mystified by the kids in your house -- the ones who argue, threaten each other and, basically, drive you crazy? This is for you; it's called "Hope" or, "Don't Look a Gift Horse in the Mouth."
Seldom rendered speechless, I was silent while my son reported that he and his older brother had been on a business trip together, stayed in a hotel together, gone shopping at the mall together -- for clothes -- AND had a good time?
I was surprised they lived to tell it; thankful I lived to hear it!
My memory of their "togetherness" conjures up different visions.
It's said that the Lord sends us situations to keep us on our knees, and they did. But we kept our eyes open.
They shared a bed during many of their growing up years. The younger boy thought it to be the perfect stage to wiggle and sing. The older boy drew an imaginary line down the middle of the bed, threatening quick death with a toy gun if his little brother dared to move a toe over the line.
The gun was discovered one night as I leaned in for a kiss, slid my hand under the pillow and felt the cold barrel. Drawing it from the hiding place I asked, "What's this?"
My sweet little son answered, "I tell 'em I'm gonna shoot 'em if he don't stay on his side and be quiet." They were about 3 and 6.
We bought an alarm clock, setting it nightly at bedtime. One got to talk for five minutes, the other had to listen. When the alarm sounded, silence reined and sleep was the next order of business. A good solution, in theory.
Desperate, I hung a poem over their desk, ending with the words, "I'm glad you're my brother, I'm glad you're my friend," but never saw that it made much difference.
I suggested counseling but their dad, embarking on stories of crimes committed by he and his brothers against one another, assured me their brotherly behavior was normal. They all needed counseling.
The boys didn't exchange punches, as far as I know, likely due to two rules:
1. Don't bleed on the rug.
Our house was carpeted, including the kitchen.
2. If you're going to fight, take it to the alley; nobody wants to watch.
That usually put out the fire; who wants to fight without an audience? Besides, someone might get hurt.
Those two guys were so different I would have doubted their gene pool, except for my presence at all events that addressed such facts.
One pivoted, as his feet hit the floor in the morning, to make his bed. The other rolled out of bed when the bus honked.
One cooked breakfast. The other placed his order the night before.
One did his own laundry. The other wore it.
One moaned through middle school choir. The other sang in a beautiful bass voice, just for the joy of it.
One argued about obeying, but usually did as he was told. The other smiled in agreement, then did what he wanted.
One was a warrior, the other a free spirit. But they were both ours and we loved them, accepted their differences, made easier when they were sleeping.
I was convinced that once those boys left home, they wouldn't speak to each another again.
"You know, Mom," the younger one continued, interrupting my thinking, "he's my best friend. We can tell each other anything, and know the other understands it."
That's good, because I surely don't.

Having Boys..................(I got this from my SIL in Abilene)
The Joys of Having BoysThe following came from an anonymous Mother in Austin, Texas...Things I've learned from my boys (honest and not kidding):
1.) A king size waterbed holds enough water to fill a 2000 sq. ft. house 4inches deep.
2.) If you spray hair spray on dust bunnies and run over them with rollerblades, they can ignite.
3.) A 3-year old boy's voice is louder than 200 adults in a crowdedrestaurant.
4.) If you hook a dog leash over a ceiling fan, the motor is not strongenough to rotate a 42 pound Boy wearing batman underwear and a Supermancape. It is strong enough, however, if tied to a paint can, to spreadpaint on all four walls of a 20x20 ft. room.
5.) You should not throw baseballs up when the ceiling fan is on. Whenusing a ceiling fan as a bat, you have to throw the ball up a few timesbefore you get a hit. A ceiling fan can hit a baseball a long way.
6.) The glass in windows (even double-pane) doesn't stop a baseball hitby a ceiling fan.
7.) When you hear the toilet flush and the words "uh oh", it's already toolate.
8.) Brake fluid mixed with Clorox makes smoke.......lots of it
9.) A six-year old boy can start a fire with a flint rock even though a36-year old man says they can only do it in the movies.
10.) Certain Lego's will pass through the digestive tract of a 4-year oldboy.
11.) Play dough and microwave should not be used in the same sentence.
12.) Super glue is forever.
13.) No matter how much Jell-O you put in a swimming pool you still can'twalk on water.
14.) Pool filters do not like Jell-O.
15.) VCR's do not eject "PB & J" sandwiches even though TV commercialsshow they do.
16.) Garbage bags do not make good parachutes.
17.) Marbles in gas tanks make lots of noise when driving.
18.) You probably DO NOT want to know what that odor is.
19.) Always look in the oven before you turn it on; plastic toys do notlike ovens.
20.) The fire department does not always have a 5-minute response time.
21.) The spin cycle on the washing machine does not make earthworms dizzy.
22.) The spin cycle on the washing machine will, however, make cats dizzy.
23.) Cats throw up twice their body weight when dizzy.
24.) 80% of men who read this will try mixing the Clorox and brake fluid.
25.) 80% of women will pass this on to almost all of their friends, withor without kids.
a) For those with no children - this is totally hysterical.
b) For those who already have children past this age, this is hilarious.
c) For those who have children this age, this is not funny.
d) For those who have children nearing this age, this is a warning.
e) For those who have not yet had children, this is birth control
***My own that should be added to this is.........tweezers in electrical outlets make fireworks in the house (Thomas taught me that when he was about 3! I am saving those melted tweezerman tweezers for him to show him when he is older)

5 Things.........
Amy tagged me. I am sitting here thinking......OK...5 things people dont know about me......I have no idea what to put.
Here goes..........
1. I am still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. I have a degree from ACU is Political Science, but ended up teaching Special Ed before and after the 5 yr stay at home deal.
Now I am an insurance agent.........dont necessarily love it........its kinda boring. J wants me to just work for him. I am seriously considering that one. We get along and have worked together before when teaching. After spending M-Th of this week in Houston for my job (thus the no blogging), I am contemplating it even more!
2. I record "The Young and The Restless" everyday and have for a long time. I watch it when the kids are in bed. I LOVE that show! (Also Project Runway, Real Housewives of OC and NY!)
My little dream world.
3. I want to be good at something.........anything! I dont know really what it is. I am not crafty nor creative. Maybe, like Amy, dancing.........dont know.
4. There are days when the dysfunction of my sides of the family drives me crazy. Jill has started asking a lot of questions that are not fun to answer. She has questions that I dont feel like I know the TRUE answer to and neither does Cathe (because I called her!). Answering questions about my moms death (33 years ago no less) is not fun. If any of you have ideas on that one, please share!
5. People are shocked to know that I have a tattoo. Its a little stick man on my right leg on the inside of my ankle. I got it my freshman yr at ACU. I dont really have a reason for it----my roommates and I just thought we needed one, so we headed on over to the Happy Dragon......a guy named Harry did them for us. Its small enough to cover with a BandAid.......but when the kids draw stick men on their ankles with Sharpies I almost CRINGE!
I tag Cathe, Cara, and any of the LURKERS out there that read this blog, but dont leave a comment!

Its small enough to cover with a BandAid.......but when the kids draw stick men on their ankles with Sharpies I almost CRINGE!
I tag Cathe, Cara, and any of the LURKERS out there that read this blog, but dont leave a comment!

Girls Reunited!
I spent this past weekend with some old friends. They are, from left.....Jenna, Kylee, me, Kristi, and Kim. We have been friends since elementary school! Some of us even went to church together in the big city of Lovington, NM. Kim recently moved back to TX and she contacted us and wanted to get together, so.........we set a date and off we went! Some drove, some flew----we stayed at Jenna's house in the metroplex and just had FUN! We went shopping, ate at some great restaurants, looked at OLD photos of ourselves, laughed at notes we had written back then, worked out at Lifetime Fitness, visited, laughed, and caught up! We have now decided that we need to make this an annual event.......maybe go to VEGAS next year! : )
Friends are so important. I was explaining to Jill that I have been friends with these girls since I was her age. We have shared in life's ups and downs-----I hope we will all do a better job of staying in touch now. Thank goodness for the internet---it will make that easier for us.
